Oxegen Festival - Deprived of People

Oxegen have tried to come up with more ideas yet again to make the annual festival that little bit more spectacular. With a Circus starting off the weekend. To me a circus full of drunken people doesn’t sound like the best idea if you ask me.
I attended the festival about three years ago. Everything seemed fine on the first day. But then everything went downhill from there on. Toilets began overflowing, food stalls were ripping people off with their stingy breakfast rolls, tents were being lit on fire and myself and a friend even managed to get burnt by the explosion of a tent. Sound like fun to you? Well if you’re drunk it probably is. But for the price of the ticket, It has got to be the worst organised event that has ever taken place on the face of the earth.
MCD, the organisers of the event failed to provide the sufficient security. That year most of the security staff left after it began to rain, since they were ordinary people being paid. Which left the campsite full of thousands of people seeking fun. It was humorous to watch the groups of security run from fire to fire as they struggled to get everything in time.
To my knowledge last year was even worse, even tho MCD managed to close down their discussion boards, practically sue boards.ie and threaten others over the discussion that took place on behalf of their own failure to organise the event and thereby give Oxegen a bad reputation. I have no intention of going there this year and It has already become quite evident that many others have changed their mind too. Tickets are being sold at less than half price, ebay is bursting with oxegen ticket sales. Rant over.
If you want a proper festival, head to hurricane.
MCD and their reaction to criticism from boards.ie posters was utterly ridiculous. It just proves that they aren’t willing to stand up and accept that people are sorely dissatisfied at the way they operate.
Exactly, I totally agree.
I’m heading again this year. Seems to be more shape to the festival this year but to make sure I have some level of comfort, myself and my friends have booked into the green campsite. I think the extra few quid its costing will be worth it if the skies decide to open up!
Last year wasnt as bad as the year before in my opinion although the mud was absolutely terrible!
Yeah I’m sure the few extra quid will be worth it. Didn’t know it was possible to pick where you wanted to go.

I went this year and it was unbelievable… best weekend of my life. It was excellent the way all the eejits who arent able to party didnt go cos they might get a bit wet and dirty
and left the rest of us, who can actually have a bit of fun, go up for the best weekend ever and have good weather for most of the weekend. I even got sunburnt on Sunday! I saw 2 fights all weekend and the only annoying thing was all the chairs being robbed, but then I got fed up and thought, when in rome..
The food was overpriced as you’d expect but it wasnt ridiculous, I was buying the quater pounders for €4 and I thought that was ok. The security was top notch I thought, they werent doing anything about the stoners who were just there for a good time and not causing any hassle for anyone and they were right there whenever anything broke out. The only bad thing I have to say about oxegen was the security at the gigs. Go on youtube and check out rowdy security guards oxegen 08. If that doesnt come up type in feeder at the end of it.
Anyway, definitely going again next year no matter what….
