Water, the new geeks coffee
Jul 6th, 2007 by Kevin Holler
My first bit of verbal rambling. So to the point. Is water the new geeks coffee? Or should it be? Most geeks or people who drink coffee will drink it for its known boost in energy levels, caused by caffeine. Although this temporary effect may seem as a help for a short amount of time, your energy levels will normally drop below that of what they were before the coffee was consumed. Now you might ask why i just told you all of that which you know already. Here’s why.
If we were to drink a glass of water, instead of that cup of coffee.. Would we have the same energy boost as we would get from coffee? Probably not. But in the long term effect, drinking about a liter of water during the day will give you more energy at the end of it all, without dropping you like a bag of cement after a few hours.
I’m speaking from my own experience here. I used to drink on average about 3 - 4 cups of coffee a day, and a night when I’d be up working on something. I no longer drink coffee to keep awake, as i now just drink plane old water. I will feel much more awake, have a lot more energy and you just feel better! Its as simple as.
Now go ahead a give it a go, stop drinking that cup of coffee to stay awake, and drink a few glasses of water. If it doesn’t work, come back here at bitch at me.

Kevin, first of all, lol. I think its a great first blog. You’re right, drinking water in the long run IS healthier for you than drinking coffee. I would know, I’m in medical school, lol. So yes, you definitely got some logic going there for you.
You know how it goes though, its all about instant results, instant gratification now days. In every regard, including health. We expect instant revival, instant ‘pick me ups’. I hope people really take your advice, it’ll improve their health in the long run.
Anyway, keep writing and keep it real!

Unfortunatly drinking large amounts of water makes your bladder alot weaker. So whilst trying to work, your trips to the bathroom will be increased, therefore, decreasing the time you spend working.
You dont have to drink the whole bottle of water in one go.. Spread throughout the day you’re going to be consuming water, still making trips to the bathroom.. But not more because you’re drinking water.
Although i do understand your point
Unless of course, you’re drinking the water in galway in which case, i would revert back to coffee!
Is water in Galway really that bad?. I thought the water here was bad. It was unsuitable for consumption until a while ago.
